Description

The lowest cost per fold in our catalog, in every unit a producer actually buys — from a single pound to a 500 kg standing contract. Grade B means beans graded down on looks, not on flavor: the same 2.5% natural vanillin as our gourmet lots off the same vines, plus the bold, earthy, chocolate-toned profile that makes a finished extract distinctive on the shelf.

Retail-bulk sellers price Grade B around $79.95/lb — roughly $176/kg. This line starts at $44 a pound and falls to $40/kg at contract volume. The difference is the supply chain, not the bean. Evanille sources, cures, grades and QC-checks these beans at our own facility in Uganda and imports them directly to Florida. You are buying from the importer, and the price per kilo shows it.

Every size ships vacuum-packed from US stock. No import wait, no minimum-contract negotiation on the smaller units — add to cart and start extracting this week.

Sizes and pricing

Size Price Per kg Single-fold yield
1 lb pouch $44 $97/kg approx. 1.15 gal
1 kg pouch $88 $88/kg approx. 2.5 gal
5 kg $375 $75/kg approx. 12.7 gal
20 kg box $1,200 $60/kg approx. 51 gal
500 kg+ contract quoted at $40/kg $40/kg approx. 1,270 gal

One product, five rungs. A pound at $44 is a year of home extract or a run of gift bottles, at roughly half the retail-bulk benchmark. A kilo at $88 is a cafe or bakery’s annual house extract. The 5 kg and 20 kg units are where small and mid-size producers stop paying retail margins on a processing ingredient, and 500 kg+ is the standing commitment for continuous production. Every rung down the ladder is a visible reason to buy the next one up.

Yield and cost per gallon

At 28% moisture these beans need 13.9 oz per gallon for FDA single-fold. The 13.35 oz figure written into the regulation assumes beans at 25% moisture or drier, so wetter beans scale up proportionally. On that basis one kilo yields about 2.5 gallons of single-fold extract, and a 20 kg box about 51 gallons — 25 double-fold. Full ratios, the moisture adjustment and the folds math: how to make vanilla extract.

Raw-material cost per gallon runs from about $38 at the 1 lb pouch to $23.65 at the 20 kg box and $15.75 at $40/kg, against roughly $69.45 per gallon buying Grade B at the $79.95/lb retail-bulk benchmark. Run that math against whatever you are buying now.

Whole pods or splits

Extract grade also comes as split pods, where the seeds and inner wall are already exposed so alcohol gets to work on day one without a knife. The split is cosmetic — it is why the bean was graded out of gourmet in the first place — and for anything that gets chopped, steeped or ground it is an advantage rather than a defect. Splits are the standard format on 500 kg+ contracts; text us if you want them at smaller volumes.

Who this is for

  • Home and gift-batch extract makers buying by the pound
  • Cafes, bakeries, gelaterias and ice cream producers making house extract and infusions
  • Small and mid-size extract makers scaling past hobby quantities
  • Craft distilleries and breweries running seasonal or recurring vanilla releases
  • Commercial extract manufacturers, flavor houses and food manufacturers running continuous production at 500 kg+

If your process shows the pod — retail packs, plated desserts, product photography — buy Grade A gourmet instead. If you want gourmet-grade input at processing prices, see the 25 kg Grade A splits Sold out. For infusions and syrups where you want maximum surface area per gram, vanilla sticks are cheaper still.

Origin proof

Uganda, not a broker’s blended lot. Ugandan planifolia carries higher vanillin and a bolder, more chocolate-forward profile than Madagascar Bourbon, which is why extract makers switch. Our own team runs it from pollination to export: sourcing, curing, grading and QC in country, then direct import to Florida. Two harvests a year — Dec–Feb and Jun–Aug — mean we commit to recurring supply without seasonal gaps, and “Grade B” means one fixed standard across every reorder. Background: our Uganda operation and Uganda vs Madagascar.

Shipping & stock

Held at our Florida distribution warehouse — no origin lead times, no customs on your side. Fast US freight with expedited options for production emergencies, and overnight available on the smaller units. Vacuum packing holds the beans at the moisture and aroma they were graded at until you open them.

FAQ

Which size should I buy?

Work backwards from gallons. A pound makes about 1.15 gallons of single-fold, a kilo about 2.5, the 20 kg box about 51. Buy the rung that covers roughly a year of production — vacuum-packed beans hold their grading-day condition, so there is no quality penalty for sizing up, only the cash outlay.

Is $40/kg the price at any volume?

No. $40/kg applies at 500 kg and above. Below it the ladder runs $60/kg at the 20 kg box, $75/kg at 5 kg, $88/kg at 1 kg and $97/kg at 1 lb. Tonne lots are quoted directly — text +1 786-896-8446. Published ranges: vanilla bean prices.

Are Grade B beans weaker than Grade A?

No. Vanillin is 2.5% in both grades — same vines, same curing. Grade B is graded down on appearance and runs slightly drier (28% moisture against Grade A’s 32%), which works out to about 6% more dry bean solids per kilo: real, but modest. The reason to buy Grade B for extract is price, and the fact that appearance stops mattering the moment the pod is chopped. See Grade A vs Grade B.

Are splits worse than whole beans for extraction?

No — better. The pod is already open, so alcohol reaches the seeds immediately. The split is cosmetic.

Why vacuum-packed?

Vanilla loses moisture and volatile aroma compounds in open air. Vacuum packing holds the beans at the condition they were graded in, so what our Uganda QC approved is what arrives at your door. Storage method: storing vanilla beans.

Are these organic vanilla beans?

They are grown and cured without additives, irradiation or artificial vanillin. Organic certification is available on request rather than carried by default — ask before ordering and we will confirm what documentation the current lot supports.

Can you support a recurring contract?

Yes. Year-round Ugandan supply and Florida inventory are built for standing commitments. Volume tiers and terms are published on our wholesale page; text us to structure a schedule.
